ORIGIN AND GROWTH
THE WEST COAST WEAVING ESTABLISHMENT (WESCOTEX) set up in 1916, is located at Chovva, KANNUR - the heartland of looms and lores. Wescotex is 100 kms midway to Mangalore airport to the north and Calicut airport to the south. Late Mr.Potheri Kumaran, a pioneering visionary in the manufacturing of handloom fabrics, was the founder-proprietor of Wescotex.

About 90 years later, today, Wescotex has grown into a front-ranking manufacturer and exporter of exquisite hand-woven fabrics with clientele in several countries in America, Europe and Asia. The phenomenal growth of Wescotex is thanks to the inspiring leadership of the founder's son Mr. P.M. Lakshmanan and the teamwork of thousands of dedicated workers.

Wescotex started with a modest domestic market and by 1926 exporting got under way. The initial international markets were Ceylon (Sri Lanka), Burma, Malaya (Malaysia) and Singapore. In the 1960's, our products found entry into the European and Japanese markets. Ever since then, it has been a story of steady growth mapping across Germany, Canada, the USA, Japan, France, Spain, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Malaysia, Austria, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Tailand, Indonesia, Australia , New Zealand and China.

RANGE OF PRODUCTS
We produce a wide range of exquisite handloom & Auto loom fabrics. Our superb creations in vibrant hues, weaves and designs, are very popular brands. These include a wide range of fabrics in running length for shirting, dress materials, furnishing and printing materials, curtains, cotton pillow, cotton cushions, crepe, made-up items, table cover, table mats, cushion covers, bedspreads, pillow covers, dish-towels, seer-sucker, Madras checks, terry towels, bath robes, bath mats, aprons, bath gown, pot holder, durries, rugs, garments, duvet cover, zabuton cover, bolster cover, quilts, luncheon mats etc. The company is capable of weaving fabric up to 300 cm wide in our looms. What is more, we can incorporate in to our products, sample designs, sent to us by potential buyers and customers. WESCOTEX has the reputation of supplying products, to all its customers, within a time bound frame and we renew our pledge to rededicate ourselves to serve them to their satisfaction with added zeal in the next millennium.

Wescotex has the enviable status of an EXPORT HOUSE RECOGNISED BY THE GOVERNMENT OF INDIA. We have been almost exclusively winning the Government of India gold medal for excellence in export performance. An ISO 9002 certified company accredited by Det Norske Veritas BV, Netherlands.

RAW MATERIALS
The products of Wescotex carry the seal of perfection in the selection of the choicest yarn, the base raw material. The high quality yarn we use is procured from spinning mills of traditional reputation. The yarn undergoes processing and dyeing into select colours at our factory. We are keen in the choice of eco-friendly dyeing and azo-free dyestuff that adhere to environmental safety norms. Our expert weavers process the treated yarn into the finest tightly-knitted and durable fabrics.

HUMAN RESOURCES AND PRODUCTION
Wescotex has more than 2000 employees including factory experts, specialist workers and labourers. They are the asset of Wescotex. They optimize the utilization of our fully-equipped processing, dyeing and finishing plants.

Besides, Wescotex has its own tailoring and made-up goods division using specially devised machines. Our R&D wing provides the manufacturing units consistent support in realizing new range and quality of products. In addition to the central presence in Kannur Kerala, Wescotex has presence in KARUR, ERODE, SALEM, MADURAI, COIMBATORE and CHENNAI in TAMIL NADU, CHIRAL in ANDRA PRADESH and CALICUT in KERALA. We own SHIPPING FACILITIES in CHENNAI, KOCHI , & MUMBAI sea ports.
